It was a nice last tune-up for the Boilers heading into the 2011-12 Big Ten season as Purdue defeated visiting IPFW 81-56 on Tuesday. Robbie Hummel earned his 15th career double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. It was his first of the season.
A total of six Boilermakers scored in double figures. D.J. Byrd and Anthony Johnson each scored 11 off the bench. Kelsey Barlow, Lewis Jackson, and Ryne Smith each added 10 points.
Purdue shot lights-out in the first half at 70% from the field compared to under 30% from IPFW. IPFW finished the game shooting only 34% to Purdue’s 53%.
Purdue never trailed and their biggest lead was 34 points.
They open up Big Ten play on December 28 at Iowa. Tipoff is set for 9:30 PM ET.
